RS Group plc, an international product and service solutions supplier, has launched an enhanced feature for its rapidly expanding DesignSpark online engineering community, Product Design Centre. The company claims that the centre boasts extensive technical data on over a billion electronic part numbers, equipping DesignSpark users with the knowledge to make better choices for their design components. Those utilising DesignSpark Engineer can expect an even richer product knowledge, covering technical attributes, predictive life cycle, alternative products, export compliance codes, and notifications on product changes or discontinuations.

The press release says that the Product Design Centre adds significant value to the existing CAD library accessible to DesignSpark members, offering over forty distinct content types. This encompasses product data, environmental insights, lifecycle details, 3D models, footprints, and schematics. All DesignSpark subscription tiers can now access updated product information, including datasheets, RoHS and Reach compliance statuses, 3D models and footprint data. Furthermore, the DesignSpark Creator and Engineer options will provide in-depth component data such as lifecycle and environmental risks, RoHS and Reach compliance details, and DRC statuses.

“We’ve worked closely with Accuris [formerly S&P Global Engineering Solutions] to deliver this substantial increase in product information, which can be crucial to design engineers that need to ensure components and products are safe, fit for purpose, or have less impact on the environment,” said Mike Bray, VP of Innovation and DesignSpark at RS. “The new Product Design Centre is just one of the comprehensive features now available across all the DesignSpark subscription choices, which provide a package of CAD software, design services, training and support – estimated to be worth more than £1000 – to design engineers, pro-creators and students.”
