High-Voltage Gate Driver IC for Motor Control

Infineon Technologies AG has launched the MOTIX TLE9140EQW gate driver IC, designed for brushless DC motors in the robust 24/48 V market. The TLE9140 is specifically engineered for automotive motor control applications that require voltage ranges from 24 V to a maximum of 72 V, demanding higher system reliability and accelerated switching performance.
It is suitable for a wide range of users across various industries. Automotive engineers and manufacturers can utilize it in motor control applications such as pumps, fans, and HVAC systems within vehicles. It is also suitable for electric vehicle designers for use in light electric vehicles like eBikes and eScooters, due to its robust safety features and high voltage capabilities. Additionally, it serves the needs of industrial equipment manufacturers, particularly in the commercial, construction, and agricultural sectors, where reliable and efficient motor control is critical. The IC features an active low-side (LS) freewheeling function to handle overvoltage scenarios and incorporates a comprehensive suite of diagnostic and protection features, including timeout-watchdog, drain-source monitoring, overvoltage, undervoltage, cross-current, and over-temperature protections, as well as off-state diagnostics.
