Imaginary Ones secures new funds as Bubble Rangers passes 2M downloads

Imaginary Ones announced today that it has secured new investments for its Web3 ambitions with an oversubscribed funding round. At the same time, it has also announced that its mobile game Bubble Rangers has passed two million downloads. Cypher Capital led the round for an undisclosed amount, along with Animoca Brands, Polygon Ventures ED3N Ventures and MH Ventures.

In 2022, Imaginary Ones sold out its limited NFT collection. It launched Bubble Rangers and Bubble Riders in 2023, both Web3 endless runners with in-game NFTs such as skins. It collaborated with Hugo Boss recently, a partnership that included in-game items from the fashion brand.

Imaginary Ones CEO Clement Chia said that the company’s flagship game rebooted and pivoted several times before it became Bubble Rangers. “It started off with Imaginary Rides, a desktop game campaign that generated 6 million plays in over three weeks. But the more we thought about it the more we realized the growing interest from communities worldwide for family friendly pick-up and play-it kind of games, and that was the big goal.”

Co-founder and COO David Lee added in a statement, “In the middle of a funding winter, the strong response we have received from key Web3 investors is a testament to our track record and the power of our Web3 entertainment roadmap. Ultimately, Imaginary Ones is a web3 entertainment group that is not just for crypto natives – but an entertainment IP that will go wherever your imagination takes you.”
