OnePlus partners with JioMart Digital in India to increase its offline retail presence

OnePlus today announced that it is partnering with retailer JioMart Digital in India to increase its retail presence in the country. Going forward, OnePlus products will now be available across 2000+ cities and towns in India.

JioMart Digital is a chain of retail stores owned by Reliance that specializes in electronics. The brand has over 100k+ retail stores across the country with greater presence in smaller towns and areas not often covered by online retailers.

“As we continue to extend our range of OnePlus products across the JioMart Digital store network, we are positive that our community and consumers at large will continue to truly benefit from this opportunity by being able to easily access and gain a personalized experience of our OnePlus devices at their nearest retail outlets.”, said Ranjeet Singh, Director of Sales at OnePlus.

This partnership comes just under a month after the Organized Retailers Association (ORA) and the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA) in India threatened to stop sales of OnePlus products across retail outlets due to allegations of the brand not supplying enough stock, giving them poorer margins, not handling service claims properly, and not engaging the retailers with visits from promoters and people demoing the new products. The ORA and AIMRA feel brands like OnePlus often prioritize sales from their online partners over offline retail partners.

OnePlus has since provided assurances that it will be working with retail partners to address highlighted issues. With this announcement, it seems tensions have been smoothened out for now.
